Speaking up is brave. But what comes after can feel just as vulnerable.
Maybe you’re wondering:

  • “Did I say too much?”
  • “Do they see me differently now?”
  • “Should I have just kept it to myself?”

These feelings are totally normal — and they don’t mean you did the wrong thing.
They just mean you were real.

This lesson explores three powerful ways to support yourself after you’ve had a vulnerable conversation.

1. 🙏 Show Gratitude
If someone held space for you, thank them.

They may already feel honoured that you trusted them — but it always means something to hear:

  • “Thanks for listening today — it really helped.”
  • “It meant a lot to feel heard.”
  • “I’m grateful I could be honest with you.”

Gratitude deepens connection and helps that person know they did a good job.

2. 💧 Hydrate Through the Vulnerability Hangover
After sharing something deep, you might experience a vulnerability hangover — that uneasy feeling where you worry you:

  • Overshared
  • Seemed weak
  • Damaged your image or relationship

It’s a common emotional response.

Instead of avoiding the person you confided in, try naming it to tame it:

  • “Hey, just being honest — I felt a bit exposed after our chat. Thanks again for holding space.”
  • “I felt a little raw after opening up yesterday. Appreciate you listening.”

Most people will respond with reassurance, not judgment.
And naming it will likely ease the tension in your body and mind.

3. 🛠️ Start Taking Action
Speaking up is powerful.
Following through is transformative.

Hopefully, that conversation gave you clarity, insight, or motivation. Now’s the time to:

  • Use any tools, recommendations, or next steps that came out of the conversation
  • Put small habits in place to care for your wellbeing
  • Keep the door open for more honest conversations

Each action you take — no matter how small — is a signal to yourself:
I’m worth looking after.

💬 Final Thought
Speaking up is not a one-off event. It’s the beginning of a new pattern.

A pattern of honesty.
Of courage.
Of healing.

If you feel raw right now, let yourself feel it.

You’re growing.
You’re changing.
And you’re doing an incredible job.
